Oh, man. This is quite possibly my all-time favorite Grateful Dead recording. If I remember correctly, it was in the first batch of Dead tapes that I was able to get my hands on. The tape was the early electric show, and I've listened to it so many times that I've got every single note and tape flaw memorized. It was one of the shows that I sought out when downloading music first became possible, and I was blown away by the fact that so many sets were played on this day.

The electric sets are quite nice, though far from my favorites of the year...something definitely is lacking compared to say 5/2 or 9/19. But the two legendary acoustic sets are simply fantastic, maybe second only to 9/20 and among the finest ever performed. The FOTD in the second show is my favorite acoustic version, and was good enough to be included as a bonus track on the remastered American Beauty album. Those sets are what elevate this into one of the top shows of 1970 for me.
